vs the fingerprint machine

A nine-part social argument against biometric attendance hardware — accuracy, cost, malfunction, missing fingerprints, data.

The challenge

Bluworks was selling attendance software against a physical object the customer already owned and trusted. Arguing that an app is better than a fingerprint machine is abstract; the machine is on the wall.

My approach

Argue against the machine directly, one failure at a time, across nine frames — accuracy, automated restrictions, machine malfunction, cost, missing fingerprints, data. The machine sits in the same 3D environment throughout with its ERROR display lit, so the audience watches one object fail repeatedly rather than reading a feature comparison.

The outcome

A social carousel that closes on the product only after the case against the alternative is complete. Published August 2024.

The setup — the machine against the app.
Accuracy · automated restrictions · machine malfunction.
Cost · missing fingerprints · data issues.
The close — the HR platform that has it all.
